Subject: Time Release Pill

Hello Laurie

Answers to your questions.

The scare to mhich I referred was raised about 9 months ago, by
researchers working on behalf of the Parkinson's Disease Society of the
UK. They were monitoring groups of people who had taken various drugs,
singly and in combination, looking for long-term effects. They noticed
that in the group which was taking levodopa and Selegiline, the number
of deaths in that group was significantly higher than the other groups.
No explanation was available , but for sefety they published their data
as quickly as possible. Other groups doing the same monitoring in other
countries reported no such effect and neurologists have been left to
more or less make their own minds up. For many neuros it was the last
straw which prompted them to take their patients off Selegeline.

Apart from the observations in the previous paragraph (which I personally
suspect was just a ststistical freak or incorrect analysis) you have no
need to worry about the interaction of Sinemet and Selegiline. I used
to take my Selegiline with a Sinemit or in-between Sinemet tabs - it
doesn't matter.

Dorothy's daughter sounds to be a person of impeccable judgement. I am
sure that she will see Dorothy through this tricky period.
