Cilia are small, hairlike processes on the outer surfaces of some cells,
aiding metabolism by producing motion, eddies or current in a fluid. They
are in the respiratory tract (help filter dust and particles from the air we
breathe) and in the digestive tract they help move the food and other
particles along. Does this help?
