Teena, How wonderful that you stumbled upon us! Please stay as long as you like, take off your shoes and sit a while... You ask: "For whom is this list intended? Would it be okay if I listened?" We are community of about 1400 souls who share the good and the bad of the PD experience. We are PWP (People with Parkinson's), caregivers, spouses, lovers, friends and quite a few highly regarded professionals who came to "listen" and found themselves staying and becoming good friends. We write about our inner-most fears, we share our progress and ask for support when we lose our way and cannot remember whether it is better to take a half of a 25/100 Sinemet or one whole 10/100, and what are DHEA, NADH or CQ10, and do they all do the same thing? And there are always special SOMEBODIES who are also wide awake at 2 A.M. and will give you the "right" answer. We discuss politics, sometimes ethical and morality issues sneak in -- and we promptly agree to disagree. Love happens, friendships are formed, we laugh and cry together, grand plans are made and we WORK hard to find ways to make the political world aware of our needs. And, YES, we are optimistic because we are always on the threshold of wonderous new discoveries. It is rather ironic to begin labeling some of our PD as familial and others' as idiopathic....I understand the genetic difference, but sharing the whole experience makes us more familial than "unknown". Stay well and enjoy our "family"! Margaret Tuchman(54yrs,dx1980) --NEW JERSEY [log in to unmask] *******************************************************************
