Ralph.... (In the "For what it's worth category")

Prior to my 20/24/94 pallidotomy, Dr. Robt. Iacono of Loma Linda University's
Movement Disorder Team had me try Periactin (also an old antihistamine like
Benadryl) after I had no response from the latter. Not only did the Periactin
work well as an anti-tremor drug, but it sure made me sleep at nite!! AND
during the morning. AND the afternoon. AND the evening! <grin>

I started taking 1/2 a pill instead of a whole one and fortunately, the tremor
still was tamed, and drowsiness DID stop after a few days.

Subject: DIPHENHYDRAMINE (BENADRYL) FOR PD ?

DIPHENHYDRAMINE IS LISTED AS AN OLD ANTI-PARKINSON DRUG, FOR IT'S
ANTICHOLINERGIC ACTION AGAINST TREMOR.

HAS ANYONE HAD ANY SUSTAINED BENEFIT FROM BENADRYL? ANY EXPERIENCE WITH
THIS DRUG FOR PD?

I"LL BE GRATEFUL FOR REPLIES. RALPH
