Hi: Welcome to the group. A couple thoughts for you; I had parkinson's for 10 years before having a pallidotomy at 39. It helped my physical health tremendously, I hope youachieve similar success. I enjoyed your writing at the conclusion of your letter. I started writing a few years ago and it has helped me tremendously. I am about to have a portfolio published with an artist friend. I encourage you to keep writing and wish you succcess with your surgery. Another note if I may To Christine: I wrote you a lengthy letter when you first wrote to the group but I find for some reason many of my posts never appear in the digests I recieve... What I wanted to do was welcome you to the grroup and offer some advice. I too was diagnosed at a young age (@29, I'm 40 now). Being eucated is wise, but in your's and any otheroyung onset pd'r, you must take what you read with a grain of salt; much of it is geared to the elderly majority of those with pd. It is easy to interpret every ache as a symptom of some new problem, be aware but not paranoid. Also, develop a good relationship with yout family doctor and specialist! Support groups are great, but try to find an early onset group, forobvious reasons. RE:Depression! Don't ignore this problem; it is a part as well as a result of the disease. One DR. once told me not to let being depressed make you depressed. One last thing, there have been enormous advances in all aspects of treatment of PD, including a couple recent major ones, so hang in there! If you ever need someone to talkto, I'd be glad to hear from you.Besr of luck Bill
