Why do these testimonials generate feelings of unease and mistrust on the part of Ron Collins and separately by myself? British understatement is frequently given credit for success among Americans, because we are not used to being charmed and not frequently. Sometimes this works, and sometimes not, because Americans develop a high level of suspicion that render them immune to the British mode of dispensing snake oil. But there is an even less complicated explanation. The word "exciting" simply does not describe their investigations. One doesn't have to be able to apply complex statistical tests to confuse any audience with almost any degree of sophisitcation to conclude that there is nothing worth listening to here. Maybe the authors were indoctrinated by some of the rhetoric heard at the recent American national elections Steven E. Mayer, Ph.D.
