Dear Don,
I don't think anyone, especially myself , is offended by the frank discussion of
sex on this ListServe, and I certainly agree with you about proper decorum
and language.
It has been my observation that most caregivers find themselves in a
paradoxical situation of being married, but not married, in the strictest
sense of the word.
I have heard this discussed many times, but have yet to find anyone who
has the answer. A lot of caregivers just give up and leave or have the
person institutionalized.

Many of us PWP's are caregivers for spouses who have other diseases .
Believe me, PD is not the only disease in the world where people, both
male and female patients are impotent. However, I do believe that less
is really known about PD, by the general public, and many doctors.
. I sometimes think that doctors feel if they
prescribe medication for us ,that everything else should be normal, rather
like taking a thyroid pill to make the thyroid function normally.
Unfortunately,
Sinemet nor any other medication for the PD patient, works that well,
we are still left with all of these UNKS, (UNKNOWNS). Its the UNK UNKs that
get us all down.

That is why I feel this listserve is so important, so we can all express
our feelings and reach out to each other. Let's face it---PWP and their
caregivers are the ONLY ones in this world who understand ALL the problems
we face.

Please continue to post and let us know how you are doing, and don't
feel you are imposing. We're glad to have you aboard.

As Ever,
