Hi Liz,
I purchase the St. John's Wort in capsules from my health food store
and just follow the directions on the bottle. My green thumb turned brown
many years ago. :-}) I'd look in a book entitled East of Eden or in
another called The Herb Bible to see if either had the directions to prepare
fresh plants for consumption. I'm sorry that I can't help more. I just
know that the plant helps me.
