Has anyone experienced dystonia following a fall. If so, how was it treated and how long did it last? I fell while out walking on Thanksgiving day, but didn"t think I had done any serious harm and continued to walk for about 1 1/2 or 2 miles. The next day I felt fine but on the third day after my fall, I began to have a slight twinge when I walked. This has progressed to severe muscle spasms and pain in the quadracepts (sp?). My PCP said it was muscle pull, but my PD specialist says it's dystonia brought on by the fall. I'm going to physical therapy and taking Aleve for pain and another med for dystonia. So far nothing is helping and I'm exhausted from lack of sleep due to painful spasms and the shooting pain while trying to walk. I am doing stretching exercises and massage and have come to terms with having a Christmas tree with no ornaments on it and Christmas shopping half done....but I sure would appreciate any suggestions on how to deal with dystonia. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and want to thank you for the helpful information and caring advice I've found on the list. Mary Sheehan
