Hello! Thank-you so much to all who responded to my questions.
My sister contacted the Ottawa Parkinson Society and they were an
enormous help. That very day Dad's neurologist called his GP and they
have decided to increase Dad's medication slightly to see what
changes occur. I checked his medication and he is now taking 2
tablets (split into 4 doses through the day) of 100/25 endo levodopa
and carbidopa. I must say Dad seemed more wakeful and on the ball
this evening when I visited him in hospital. Maybe he was just
having a good period or perhaps the extra 1/2 pill gave him a little
boost already.
Thanks for the encouragement for taking the bull by the horn and
getting a second opinion. Dad was due for a re-check next week and I
will insist he be transferred to the hospital in Ottawa so he can be
assessed again. Ottawa, Ontario is a 2 hour drive from where we live
and where the nearest Parkinson Clinic is.
I have heard the term Parkinson's Plus mentioned. Can anyone tell me
where I can find information about this?
