What a lot of rubbish is published about viruses, simply because people
don't understand how (or can't be bothered) to use their computers
properly!

Suggested routine is to:
1. do a full backup of your hard disk once a week.
2. get a COUPLE of virus search and clean packages: e.g. F-PROT & NORTON
ANTI-VIRUS and run them once a week, just before doing the backup.
3. make a CLEAN boot disk on a floppy, and write-protect it.

Then ignore viruses until they happen to you!
When it does:
1. switch off at the mains
2. put the clean boot disk in
3. boot up with it
4. run your virus checkers and disinfect
5. if necessary, format your hard disk and restore from your most recent
backup. It's quite good discipline. as it forces you to look carefully
at the contents of your disks etc.

Regards
