George: Sinemet is stable in acid. Sinemet is absorbed in the duodenum. The
trick seems to be to get the stuff into solution in an acid, pass it through
the stomach and get it absorbed at a fairly constant rate to get stable
levels in blood and brain. Take your total daily awake dose, dissolve it,
and divide the medicine into hourly doses.
I make my "cocktail" for the day each morning, or I make the juice the night
before and add the pills in the morning, or best of all my husband makes it
for me -- but it must be fresh daily. For a while, I was crushing Vitamin C
tablets and adding them, but to keep it simple now I just use Tang and
dilute cranberry juice. It is critically important that the medicine be in
soluti[on. Those water bottles with drink-spouts carried by joggers are
perfect and enable me to judge my dose without a measuring cup. For example,
I make 1000cc liquid and drop in 5 Sinemet 25/100's and shake like mad.
Then I drink 100 cc per hour [=50 mg] which is better and more quickly
absorbed than merely chewing 1/2 a pill. Theoretically, can also "titrate"
dose up or down when there are special needs --e.g. Take an extra dose with
protein meal.
It is still finicky medicine but at least I can get through the days at work.
I haven't figured out quite how to make it through the nights. Let me know
how you do.

Margaret: Thanks for your response. What specifically can I do to contact
Congressman, etc.? What should each of us be doing.? Please be very
specific.

to Parlodel user: Nausea is well-known side efffect of both Parlodel and
Permax, often limiting the dose of medication tolerated or obviating its use
entirely. If the nausea began when medication was restarted after an
interval, may be able to receate tolerance by re-introducing at tiny dose and
building up gradually to previous level.
