HI Ram, I didn't catch the orginal msg, so I don't know which city your Dad is in, but I suggest you get a couple of opinions. I'm in Bombay - my mother had Parkinson Plus (PSP). It's only now that I realize how lucky we were that she was diagnosed correctly (that was after one year of going to every variety of doctor - we were so ignorant; it's only when she fell and fractured her hand, when attempting to shut off the TV, that the orthopaedic surgeon suggested a neurologist - even then, the first one was undecided, it was the second who diagnosed it immediately). You might want to consult Dr Noshir Wadia, who diagnosed my mother. Dr Singhal is also considered to be very good, though he was the first neurologist we went to - apart from everything else, he's extremely grim, and his waiting room has no space, which makes it very difficult for a patient who finds it difficult to sit for long periods. Dr Mohit Bhatt is one of the younger ones - he's specialised in PD. Dr Jimmy Lalkaka is considered to be a competant doctor and empathic. ANother thing I liked about Dr Wadia is that he always treated my mother as a responsible adult. Dr Bhatt used to take us out of the room to tell us about the state of progression, etc, Dr Wadia said whatever he had to in front of my mother. Both approaches have their advocates, no doubt, but we preferred to be honest with her, and she had the guts to take it. I've taken up enough bandwidth. Feel free to msg me in pvt if you need more inputs. Sarita PS - There's a PD Society in Delhi - the contact is a Robinder (I think that spelling's wrong) Hoon - either Vasant Vihar or Maharani Bagh. > Date: Sat, 11 Jan 1997 17:01:23 -0500 > From: Barbara Mallut <[log in to unmask]> > Subject: Re: Answer for Ram Nagarajan, to send to Dad in India. > > There IS a condition not all that uncommon for persons with one or more > chronic diseases that periodically flairs up causing horrendous pain along the > entire length of a rib (or two, three).
