Bernard:

I can only speak for myself and speculate about others. Speaking for
myself, I rarely have anything to contribute that someone else hasn't
already said better than I could. I try to limit my messages to things I
think will be interesting to a good share of the group. (This doesn't mean
my postings have to be interesting to EVERYONE, of course.) I think a lot
of the list members have the same attitude, and I'm really quite glad that
they do. Some people already complain about the volume of mail -- imagine
130 additional messages every day (1300 subscribers divided by 10 days)
that were written just for the purpose of posting SOMETHING!

Other reasons I can imagine for not posting:

1. We probably have a good number of members who can "point and click" to
receive messages, but have trouble composing and typing messages of their
own.

2. Some subscribers may have been intimidated by recent "flames" of
messages someone else considers "useless".

3. For some subscribers, I'm sure it's all they can do just to READ the
INCOMING messages.

By the way, I LIKE statistics, and I enjoy your posts. I also applaud you
for labelling them clearly, so that subscribers who aren't interested can
avoid downloading them. In general, I think the list supplies a good mix
of information, discussion, and humor.

(Have I given two cents' worth yet?)

Thanks for listening.
