Hi all, Have you gotten the January 1997 Scientific American? The magazine has a very good (in my opinion) article on PD. It has great pictures and diagrams. Remember our discussions about 'demerol'?? The article talks about "the Case of the Frozen Addicts" who were making a homemade batch of meperidine (Demerol). They also talk about the MPTP being a contaminate in heroin and demerol, and the probabal cause for their sudden freeze. The article also talks about how 'free radical' are released and the damage they do. It talks about iron level rising and interacting with dopamine and neuromelanin. Could taking iron suppliments also cause this rise in free radicals?? I had two surgeris on my knee before I has symptems and both time Iwas given Demerol and/Morphine. I have also had to take iron suppliments each time I was pregnant because I tend to be anemic, especially with the second one in 1970, when I was given shots because I could not take the pills. The iron shots came before the knee surgeries. Anyway, If you have a chance read this article, and have friends read it. It gives the physical reasons we are the way we are.
