There is some literature about Sinemet timing strategy,
although opinions and situations vary. Try the list
archives for citations  on levodopa effects (e.g.,
Neurology, 1996, V. 46, pp 1051-1054). Also mentioned
in R. Duvoisin's book: The gist is that protein
competes with levodopa for absorption through the
intestinal wall, therefore more of the drug reaches
the bloodstream (and thence the brain) if taken on
an empty stomach.
