Bill, Prefacing this letter with a disclaimer- that I have not examined your father and know only what information you provide to me and what follows is based on that information only and does not constitute formal medical advice- I have to state that I am extremely concerned about the story that you presented. Does your dad have a clear diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease? If so taking him off of sinemet and putting him on haldol (what was the dose?) would seem to me to be an ill-advised strategy and possibly harmful. Haldol is a powerful dopamine blocker whuch can control hallucinations but almost always makes PD much worse. Was there a neurologist and/or a psychiatrist involved in his care? Is he only on eldepryl for his PD? His "lack of cooperation" may be "freezing". If a neurologist with singnificant knowledge of PD is not involved in his treatment I would suggest that occur ASAP. A psychiatrist with a good knowledge of psychopharmacology would also be helpful. There are drugs that can often help control hallucinations and delusions which can be given with sinemet. Given the current status of your father I would suggest obtaining a consultation soon. Good luck and let me know how things work out.
