Dear William,

In your post, you describe how your father's condition seems to have
worsened in the hospital, as opposed to how he was doing beforehand.

I don't have the full solution -- but I can tell you that I was distrubed
to see that the doctor had placed your father on a regimen of HALDOL
(=Haloperidol). This drug is specifically CONTRA-INDICATED, from what I've
read, for a PD patient; it EXACERBATES various PD symptoms. You'll find
this information on various of the "Contra-Indicated for PD" lists that
have been posted in earlier versions of the PD Digest; you can also seek
out more details by doing a search on the Internet, such as by using the
search-engine Yahoo.Com or AltaVista.Com; or you can even look it up in
the Merck Manual.)

So I would immediately bring this to the attention of your father's
physician and neurologist. Plus -- since the doctor at the hospital
apparently saw fit to administer Haldol in the manner that you described,
I would ALSO make a point of carefully reviewing ALL the medications that
your father is being given, to see whether or not they're contra-indicated
for a PD patient and to see, as well, HOW LONG any negative effects might
be expected to last even after that particular drug's administration has
been stopped.

Good luck.
