Note that I said 2 or 3 articles, because what we seem to have is a few (very few) genuinely funny writers in our midst, and they are a resource to be treasured. When they write an article, we all have a good laugh, and go back to whatever we were doing with a lighter heart. *************************************************************************** Wed, 29 Jan 1997 19:21:39 -0500 Dr. Charles T Meyer wrote: This list serves a valuable function for the PD community. I think that anyone who posts on this list more than 1-2 times a week should ask themselves before they press the send button whether what they have to say is likely to be relevant to 1,500 people who have been drawn together by a common interset in Parkinson's Disease. **************************************************************************** To All, my feelings: I fully agree with the above postings and believe them to be in keeping with the boundries of the original list charter. I have been here over a year now and have received much good information which we have been able to use to our benefit. While I am very fortunate not to have PD or any other serious disease, I, as a caregiver, to a beautiful woman who happens to be my wife, need the additional input from those with PD to enable me to help Jeannette to the best of my ability. Given that all of us have limited time and resources, our time must be spent in the most efficient manner possible. There have been many messages recently on this listserv that don't seem to be in keeping with the general purpose or boundries of this list. A number of the messages have content that would appear to be more appropriately sent to the individual(s) rather than the list as a whole. I would hate to see the list deteriorate to a chat channel. That I don't believe was its original intent. While I participate occasionally on chat channels, I don't think the list is the proper place for that type of activity. I have reveled in some of the jokes, poems, etc., presented here. I have wept at some of the problems presented, feeling helpless to be of service. Jeannette and I have benefited much by the good advice and the knowledge presented here by those willing to present 'food for thought' or answers to troubling problems. Please be considerate of others on this list when sending posts. While all of us have delete buttons available, we don't want to miss a significant post by someone who, or some topic which, has been set to an automatic delete mode. That's my 3 cents worth.....1 cent over my limit, I apologize! *********************************************************** E.
