Here's what I've gleaned from the recent storm of postings regarding humor, poetry, etc. and their place on the list: 1. It's clear that some people enjoy these non-parkinson postings. 2. It's clear that some people don't want to be bothered by them. 3. Using the "Subject" line of the message to identify these postings makes sense to quite a few of us. So... I suggest that we agree on a standard set of subject "prefixes" to identify the type of posting. For example, we might start the subject of humorous postings with "HUMOR" and political postings with "POLITICS". Some categories that I would find useful would be: Humor/Whimsy Poetry/Inspirational Political Tips on dealing with PD Medicine Surgery Internet resources Requests for help or information Some examples taken from yesterday's digest might be: TIPS: Exercise & Sinemet INET: Health and Medicine HUMOR: Speed Of Dark I know there will always be messages that can't be categorized, and I wouldn't want this to evolve into something so complicated that people would be reluctant to post things because of it. I'd also hate for it to turn into an excuse for people to flame others who can't or don't follow the guidelines. I also recognize that I have a tendency to over-structure anything I touch, so it's likely that I've suggested too many categories here. But maybe a stripped-down version would be useful? For what it's worth. -- Doug
