I've always understood the expression "Attaboy" as being a conjunction of the
words, "That's the boy!" As in when a fella accomplishes some major goal,
and is proudly hugged by a parent who says, "Attaboy!"
Nowadays, "Attaboy" isn't gender-specific, and we GIVE an "Attaboy" when
someone has done a good job. For instance, to Joao Paulo, for persevering in
making every effort to understand some of the nonsense words we use in our
online wordplay, I say "ATTABOY!!" <grin>
"Way to go," probably grew out of something like "Great job.... you've done
that correctly." It's just more informal...
Now when we get to "Howzzit," "whazzup," and ROFLMAO, I can see some REAL
confusion arising! <smile>
