Date: Sun, 2 Feb 1997 01:17:38 PST Message-ID: <[log in to unmask]> Hi everyone, I am astonished to report that NADH is improving me enough so that Boston University's Dr. Samuel Elias felt, upon seeing me for about one hour, on Wednesday, that NO NEUROSURGERY is needed yet. His reaction should provide all of us with a LOT to think about,. I will go back on April 23 to be re-evaluated. I still am very uneasy about the future, and am trying to accept that this encouraging NADH response may be temporary. I am the FIRST P.W.P. on NADH that Dr. Elias had seen. Because 15 mg./day helps considerably, Dr. Elias thinks I ought to try 20 mg/day. I will try and see what happens.. My worst problem is still DEEP, PAINFUL OFF-periods, especially at night, causing me to wake up to twisting, contracting, wrenching muscle cramps. During the day, however, I can go 6 to 11 continuous hours with NO OFF-periods of more than 30 minutes. So NADH is having a powerful, positive impact, at least in my first 10 days of trying it . Again, I am using t he ENADA formula developed by Dr. Georg BIrkmayer of Vienna. Every day that I can survive without braiin surgery is another Gift from above. I put all of your many responses in either my "Pallidotomy" or my Positive Attitude" files. NOW FOR A BIG QUESTION: I wish somehow that those of you who are rejected or outcast or shunned by their biological families would send me some comments. This rejection has placed a painful burden on me, because my "family of discovery" (my friends) supports me, but my biological family thinks that Parkinson's can be easily managed by a few simple steps. I guess the lack of public information and education about PD has something to do with my biological family's WALLING ME OFF...but meanwhile, they are not helping me to cope. Hope I didn't talk too long. Thanks for bearing with me. Ivan Suzman 47/10 Greetings from Portland, Maine.... land of lighthouses.... --------- End forwarded message ----------
