Marling... good question. At my PD support group here in the L.A. area, that same question was asked at a meeting - I think it was last Feb. 'cause Alan Bonander asked the question if I remember correctly, and he'd been our guest speaker that month <am I right, Mary Yost?>, and, well, SHUT-MY-MOUTH <grin> 'cause of the 25 or so that were there all but 4 or 5 raised there hands indicating they HAD neurosurgery for PD! We were all pretty surprised to see so many of those who'd attended the meeting had already had pallidotomies (with a couple or 3 alternate-type neurosurgeries included). I found it interesting to see all the different ways (some good, some not-so-good) each of us responded to the surgery... and the fact that some had them many many years ago, while the diagnostic tools were very crude, and others had them within a few weeks of the meeting. That said, Marling, the turn out of individuals having had neurosurgery DOES vary from meeting to meeting, I've noticed... Also, we ARE starting to see folks who've had two unilateral pallidotomies (I only know one person - <Barb waves at Don Berns> who's had a bilateral pall. - both sides done at once - tho I know they ARE being done with increasing frequency by a few surgeons. So, for what it's worth, there ya have it, based upon my own observations, Marling.
