My name's Maggie Heeger, new to the list, and I live in Madison, Alabama (USA). My mother-in-law has been diagnosed with PD, and I'd like to be able to support and help her as much as possible. It's difficult, because she and my father-in-law live 10 hours away in Illinois. My biggest concerns center around the severe depressions she's dealing with, and my father-in-law's inablity to help. He wants her to improve, of course, but he just won't *do* anything. He's overwhelmed by the whole thing, he's 78, and seems helpless to communicate with doctors or seek out alternatives. I don't want to be meddlesome or pushy, but I hate to see nothing done to help her physically or mentally. We'd love for them to move closer to family and friends (they're completely isolated where they are now) but Dad refuses..this is where he's lived all his life, and he won't uproot Mom at this stage in her life. I've rambled on and on...and I appreciate the support enormously. I've also enjoyed reading the posts. If nothing else, it's nice to know we're not alone. Maggie Heeger [log in to unmask]
