I have had the same experience that your father had. I went to the
Parkinson's Istitute in Sunnyvale CA where i was diagnosed as "atypical
parkinsonism". We tried  6 drugs separately and in combination. None of them
had any effect at all on my symptoms. I tried Eldepryl, Sinemet, Zoloft,
Parlodel, Permax and amantadine. My main symptom is gait instability. I have
trouble starting, turning, balance and carrying anything. I fall a lot.
After much study I believe the problem is one of the "parkinson plus
syndromes". Please let me know what you find out.
