Both CAT scan dye and thyroid dye have iodine as a component. Thyroid dye has a higher degree, and so is more dangerous to those with allergies to iodine. Allergies to iodine must be addressed with appropriate medication prior to *any* x-ray that requires contrast (i.e. dye). Finally, if anyone is allergic to shell-fish, always inform *all* physicians and x-ray technicians of your allergy. It is an indication that you will react to x-ray dyes. ------- Msary Ann
