Dear List Members,
I wrote to you about a month or so ago because my husband was so very sick
and we were not sure if he had Young Onset Parkinson's Disease or not. I am
so very appreciative to all of you who wrote to me and I wanted to give you
all an update. I can't find my list of those who e-mailed me privately but
when I do I will try to write to you, too, but hopefully you will at least
see this message. Everyone on this list has been so helpful and kind and I
find that this is one of the best lists I am on. I am on several others for
my own illnesses. Anyway, to refresh your memory my husband was having
constant severe headaches and trouble with his arms and other things. And
two people we knew of in his family had PD. The doctor said that my husband
did not have YOPD. So he ran a lot of tests including some he had run
before that were slightly abnormal. He did find out that my husband has
carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists and was surprised about that. It is
from his typing at the computer at work for so long. That explains why his
grip was weak and he couldn't carry anything heavy. They also found out
that my husband has what is called chronic myofascial pain syndrome. It is
a type of fibromyalgia of the head. It involves the jaw, mouth and muscles
and the muscles go into spasms, triggering pain, triggering more spasms,
etc. Anyway, they are going to try to fix it with a special mouth splint
that he has to wear continually. They cannot cure it but can try to control
it. We are thankful to everyone who offered us helpful advice. I am
planning to stay on the list for now even though he doesn't have YOPD.
Since his father had it and his mother's first cousin has it and, I just
found out, apparently his mother has it, too, I am going to still be very
interested in this subject. Thank you to everybody and best wishes in the
future.
Sincerely,
Dawn
