Hello everyone, I joined the list one month ago and introduced myself shortly thereafter. I can't believe it's only been one month because I've learned so much already from all of you. Sometimes it felt like information overload, (:-) but gradually I'm beginning to sort it out. My first question is about tremors. Are they ever controlled? By anything? Bill has had tremors in his left hand for over a year, and now in his right hand as well, for the last couple of weeks. He's been on Sinemet CR 200/50 , once a day in the morning, since last March. In September, he started taking Amantadine, 100 mg, one in the morning and one at night. Twelve days ago, Elderpryl was added: 1/2 of 5 gr. once a day. Lately, I've seen improvement in his mental alertness, but nothing seems to affect the tremors. Next question. I read a post this morning about Elderpryl FAQ. (Thanks Judith) Has anyone here given up eating bananas because of taking Elderpryl? A last comment, and it's about walking backward. Nothing to do with Parkinson, just something I came across while reading a biography of Lady Mountbatten. Her good friend Nehru made it a habit of walking backwards UP a hill. I tried it myself, because Lunenburg, N.S. is uphill all the way! (:-) It's amazing how little effort it takes to do it, and I get to the top with hardly a puff. Of course, I don't do it all the time: being a "from away", I don't want to attract too much attention.(!) That's all, folks. Really glad to be on this list. Germaine CG for Bill 68/1+
