I've already mentioned on this list that my mother (67, diagnosed 3 weeks ago) was given Sinemet 25/100 3x/day and has not seen any results. She takes it about 20-30 minutes before meals and restricts her protein intake. Her doctor started her on an extra 1/2 dose along with the original dose. She's been on this for about 3 days and still hasn't seen results. She has an appointment with a specialist March 13 and feels comfortable waiting until this time to bring up the fact that the extra dose hasn't produced results, either. Again, she is, according to her first doctor, rthe neuro who diagnosed her, in the early stages of PD. What I'm wondering is -- does the failure to get results with this dosage strongly suggest that she doesn't have PD but something else?? Her symptoms seems so typical (if you can even say that). According to everything I've read, it seems like PD (of course I haven't read a lot about conditions similar to PD): off balance; slowed speech; cannot really use left hand; classic PD gait; slowness in moving and turning around. Any thoughts on this?? Again, my main question is, should this current dosage work if it's PD?? Thanks, again, for all your knowledge and help. Debbie White [log in to unmask]
