* Researchers say a new drug helps brain cells in animals to
  regenerate following damage and could be useful in treatment of
  Parkison's disease.
    - GPI-1046 was tested on mice and found to protect nerves from
      damage and cause brain cells to regenerate.
    - Johns Hopkins University researchers say in animals whose
      sciatic nerves were crushed, GPI-1046 accelerated recovery of
      the damaged nerves.
    - Guilford Pharmaceuticals makes the drug and says it "may
      represent a significant new approach to the treatment of
      neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease."
    - report is in the March edition of the Proceedings of the
      National Academy of Sciences.
