Debbie,

Balance is a symptom of PD,  or at least the atypical PD where balance and
gait are the main problems.  She may have an atypical PD, more specificly
one of the parkinson+ syndromes. There are three signs that one should look
for that indicate the possibility of atypical parkinsonism :

        1. little or no tremor

        2. no resposne from Sinemet

        3. the first and still the main symptom is a gait and balance problem
