 Hi listmembers,

The office of the Governor of Maine, Angus S. King, Jr., has
just asked me to help him to draft Maine's first World Parkinson's Day
Resolution.

I am grateful for the increased awareness that will surely
result. And I am glad to help.

Question #1 is: How many PWP's are there in Maine?

Can anyone tell me how to calculate THE NUMBER OF PWP's in my
state?? Maine's population (NOT COUNTING BLACK FLIES or CHICKADEES) is
supposedly 1,250,000.

Maine's populations are 96% European, 2% Native American and 2% African
and other origins.

Someone suggested that only a small percentage of PWP's in
Maine, which is rural and poor, with many isolated communities, ever are
correctly diagnosed.

Also, there are no Parkinson's or movement-disorder specialists
anywhere in our entire state, so PWP numbers are confusing and difficult
to estimate, and certainly undercounted so far....

THANK YOU! I will forward all estimates to the Governor's office.

P.S. How about a way to calculate the number of young-onset PWP's
("YOPWP's") ??
