Maggie, It sounds to me as if you mother-in-law is under medicated. When I am in my "off" phase (ie when my PD symptoms are not responding to my medication) I too would rather " stay home and have everyone leave (me) alone". She may well find life a bit more tolerable on Sinemet. At the very least the subject should be discussed with her neurologist.
