I saw the showing of "How'd they do that" last night on TLC.
They have no idea of what is going on in the Parkinsonian brain. Pat O'brian
kept referring to the globus pallidus as the diseased part of the brain and
that the pallidotomy was going to destroy the diseased part of the brain.
In the words of Mr. Boffo, these are definitely "people unclear on the
concept."
I have an idea to write the Learning Channel and explain to them that the
globus pallidus in the normal P.D. patient is perfectly healthy, but it needs
to be relieved of some of the pressure of trying to receive dopamine that
just is not available.
