Hello Ken, Don and all who are suffering from cramps and restless legs.
I promised last week to give you a translation about a machine I and
several other PWP are using in Denmark, it`s allso used by the Hospitals.

This machine - ELPHA 2000 - is constructed and manufactured in Denmark. The
machine contains both a muscle and pain stimulator. The size of the machine
is like a Shawer and the price is Danish Kr. 4000,00
What is TNS?? TNS means Trancutan nerve stimulation which is treatment of
pain and cramps without medicine anside effects.
TNS is a method oftreatment based on electric stimulation of the nerves for
the purpose of easing pain or to have the pain and cramps brought to an
end.
The idea is that after having located the pain or the cramps two electrodes
are being placed so that when the electric power is passing from on to the
other it necessarily has to pass the painful area.Through the stimulation
obtained of pain which normally is transmitted through the nerve system
where it is registrated as pain, will be blocked.
The blocking is made by a theory (Gate Control, Melzack R,. Wall PD) which
in common is called the theory of gate meaning that the ends of the nerves
where they pass into the central nerve system may open and close a gate. By
stimulating with TNS at a low frequency (about 2 Hz) but so powerful that
in the area of stimulation viorous contractions of the muscles will arise,
this effect will show after about 30 minutes of stimulation
As previously mentioned the method is easy to use. It is cleanly and
effective and after a short time of instruction the patient may treat
themselves as needed which means when the pain or cramps arises.
