Our Rep. John Boehner opposed "earmarking" of funds for SPECIFIC diseases last year--he didn't thing Congress "should tell the NIH what to work on " (!!!) He also argued that the FDA needed to be reformed so drug companies can get new drugs approved (and make money) sooner, than we'd get all the new meds we need, and not need money --eg=Udall. We're trying to get an appt. with him now, but I'm not too hopeful of outcome.
