(Age 41, diagnosed >31)>>Thanks >>Bob Tauchen>Hi Bob and anyone else interested in talking to their Governor, What we wanted in Maine was a Proclamation declaring April as PD AWARENESS MONTH, and April 11 as World Parkinson's Day. I called the Governor's office, and explained that I am in my 10th year of Parkinson's Disease, and that we need the governor to help create a greater awareness of the need for more research, clinical care, support for families and loved ones affected by PD, and education about PD. BY DESCRIBING MY WORST SYMPTOMS to one of Gov. King's aides, Kerri Malinowski, I got her undivided attention quickly.Within a week of my initial call, and supplied with a letter from our support group, Governor King made the commitment to issue a Proclamation. We are calling and re-calling the local TV stations and newspapers, to get coverage (hopefully) on Monday. We are excited and hopeful that the signing ceremony will give us a BOOST!!Here again is the requested Governor Angus S. King Jr of Maine PARKINSON'S DISEASE AWARENESS MONTH Proclamation. We are working on getting PWP's to Augusta for the SIGNING CEREMONY at the state Capitol, Monday, April 7 at 10:45 AM.
