I'm a caregiver without PD but I also have had tinnitus for several
years. It is constant, like a high frequency sound you get from the
television.

I've researched it on the internet and found that there are various
types of tinnitus. One is a malfunctioning middle ear, that can cause
problems with balance. Another type is more or less untreatable. There
is a drug that seems to work, but it has major side effects, far worse
than the tinnitus.

In one research note, someone suggested cutting back on caffeine might
be effective. I have had a serious coffee habit for several decades now,
but I figured I should give that theory a try. I cut back to decaf for a
week, and now I've been off all caffeine for three weeks. No difference
at all. I'm going to try and stick it out over the weekend, then resume
coffee if there is no change.

For what it's worth...
