OF ONTARIO, INAUGURATES FIRST EVER WORLD PARKINSON'S DAY
$2 million dollar endowment to The Parkinson Foundation of Canada
to be announced at Queen's Park reception
TORONTO, April 10 /CNW/ - World Parkinson's Day, an important new health
awareness initiative endorsed by the World Health Organization, is being
celebrated on April 11 at events in 31 countries. As part of this
world-wide  event, the Hon. Hilary Weston, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario,
will host a  reception to celebrate the work of health professionals and
the often  unrecognized efforts of caregivers. At the reception, a $2
million endowment,  called the Laura L. Sabia Education and Research
Endowment, will also be  announced, which will form part of the
foundation's research trust.
Approximately 100,000 Canadians are affected by Parkinsons, making it the
number one movement disorder in the country.
