CLOZARIL is an antipsychotic drug. It also works for some dyskinesias
and for parkinson induced psychosis and dementia. For PD it ususlly
works in small doses (often 100mg or less). It can cause drowsiness
and/or drooling in addition to the 1% who have bone marrow suppression
(which can be fatel if undetected). That is why weekly white blood cell
counts are mandated. There is also an increased risk of seizures in a
seizure prone person(although not usually in the small dose used for
PD). Any physician can prescribe it (in the USA) who is willing to
become registered in the Clozaril system, and who agrees to all the
stipulations for prescribing it. The pharmacy must also be registered
and report the WBC to the Clozaril Registry every week. The prescription
can only be filled in a 7 day supply and the WBC must have been done and
approved before dispensing. Any other questions -please ask! Jerry
