1. Re: GPI-1046 - My hunch is that this chemical is going to be more effective in slowing the progression of PD than it is as a cure.(just my opinion) Hence the 10 year wait for approval. It takes longer to prove effectiveness on preventing progression than reversing the disease. It usually takes about 7 years from the start of human trials to approval on most new drugs- sometimes shorter if the drug shows benefit in an untreatable condition. 2. The effectiveness of L-Dopa (in Sinamet) is greatly dependant on it's absprption from the GI tract. The presence of food (especially high protein) will reduce absorption. Also speeding up the activity of the GI tract seems to help for a more even absorption. The drug Propulsid has been shown to be benificial for faster and better absorption.
