Dear Joan,
The NY Panhandlers greatly appreciate all you have done for the
Parkinson's community and all you continue to do. Your dream gave birth
to an organization no one else thought of. Because of your efforts over
the last five years, PAN has evolved into a force to be reckoned with,
and with your leadership, we believe the bill will be passed this year.
"We" are Lupe, Peggy, Tony, Barbara, Bernie, Bill, Margot, Vernice,
Bruce, Dale, and Robin. We know you are under a lot of pressure, but we
hope you will hang in there just a bit longer, doing what you do so
well.
Look back at all you have accomplished. Think of the people in this
country with Parkinson's disease who cannot speak for themselves but now
have you to so articulately speak for them. The disease grinds away at
us making us tired, frustrated, and sometimes angry, but we must push
on. Our goal is so near. We are like the man in the sculpture who is
pushing a boulder to the top of a mountain. He is so close, but if he
falters just a bit, he will fail and be crushed by the boulder. We think
that is where we are now with our "boulder." We must not falter when we
are so close to the top.
All of us in New York have been inspired by you many times. Let us now
inspire you to continue the fight. We are ready to help you in whatever
way we can. Just let us know how!

                                        The NY Panhandlers
