Kathryn... Acupuncture is my next step, and I discussed it with the orthpod yesterday. He wasn't adverse to the idea at all, surprisingly. In fact, right after my daughter's wedding a week from Sunday, I'm going to move into high gear and ask around amongst my friends to see of anyone can refer me to a acupuncturist in my area. Not everyone gets relief, but many do. It might provide enough pain relief to allow you to quit the Motrin. Like Billy, I'm in favor of taking as few meds as possible! I have early-onset arthritis in the R.shoulder, hip and knee joints, and hands, and monthly acupuncture provides enormous relief, allowing me to function pretty well.
