Taking food at the same time, especially animal protein, slows the
absorption of levodopa.  Digestive tract problems such as diarrhoea and
constipation will affect the time the tablet contents is in the small
intestine, where the levodopa is absorbed.

But although one can take the second and subsequent doses some 1/2 to 3/4
hour before meals, how to handle the first dose?  What works for me is to
drink a glass of low-fat, extra calcium milk before swallowing the Sinemet.

I tried Madopar, but they appeared to provoke a dry coughing reaction.  Any

General opinion seems to be that any delay in increasing levodopa dosage
will lengthen the number of years it is effective.  Speaking for myself, I
would rather go out like a  Roman Candle sooner, than sputter out like a
penny candle latter.
