I'm not sure if this will help, but I have seen a steady decline in my
fathers, age 57, driving response since he has begun PD meds about 4 years
ago. He was a tractor trailer driver for many years, and a very good driver.
When growing up, he was the only person I felt safe driving with. Now, due to
his delayed reflexes, he really scares me when he drives. He also insists on
driving a standard shif truck, and now has great difficulty shifting into
reverse, and is very slow shifting into other gears. He also seems like he is
too lazy to brake at times, and therefore tailgates often. I try to encourage
him to stop tailgating since his response time is not what it used to be, but
he still continues it.

We are arranging a seminar on Driving and Parkinson's Disease - and I was
wondering if PWP and or Carers would mind sharing some of their experiences
with driving. For example, how your medication affects your driving
ability, specific problems you may have with vision, etc.
I hope to compile these answers for the lecturer (who is an OT who works in
a driving assessment consultancy) for her own education as much as
anything.
Tell me your horror stories too if you like!

Thanks in anticipation.
Sincerely
Joy Graham
