Re: Arthur Caplan, Ph.D.
      Director, Center for Bioethics
      Univ. of Penna. Health System

Could you communicate with Dr. Caplan and ask him:
1. For a history of the use of fetal tissue in research and
transplantation in the U.S.?
A posting by Majorie Moorfield cited a book titled "The
Case of the Frozen Addicts," by Dr. J.W. Langston, and the
research for a polio vaccine in the 1950's.
2. Is there an ethical argument to be made for the use
(harvesting?) of legally aborted fetuses in medical research,
rather than letting the tissue and organs be destroyed?

Thank you.
