Hello Mark,  The symptoms which you describe look to me like the result of
being under-medicated. The short stuttering steps are  (I think) an early
form of freezing - this typically goes away as you concentrate on it, and
once it goes, you can walk normally again.
   It is an unfortunate  fact of life that as time goes on, the dose which
used to work, no longer does. It is not simply a case of doubling up on your
tablets, we are talking subtle changes, but it can be done with care.
