ACTION ALERT:
Re recent post, we know the Senate unanimously passed a
"sense of the Senate" resolution during the past 2 weeks calling for
the NIH budget to be doubled during the next 5 years. Following this,
Senators Connie Mack and Diane Feinstein instroduced a resolution
which would require $2 billion to be added to the Senate
Appropriations budget so that when the budget is formally finalized
$2 billion would be available to go to NIH and hopefully this will
include funding of the Udall bill. A number of Senators signed the
Resolution for delivery to Senator Ted Stevens, (Alaska) chair of the
Senate Appropriations Committee.
The following Senators have NOT signed on to the Mack-Feinstein
Resolution. Please phone and/or write your Senators if their names
appear below, urging them to notify Senator Stevens of their support
of the Mack-Feinstein Resolution. If your Senators have already
signed on you may want to call or write to thank them for doing so.
