Mary - If the CR isn't working any better for you than the regular Sinemet, and it costs $120 more a month, to boot, then maybe your accountant would be the best person to ask for advice, not your doctor. <grin> Seriously, the only potential benefit in taking CR is to smooth out the "down" times between doses. You'd have as much benefit from sticking to regular Sinemet and taking half-doses twice as often. The lengthy time before CR kicks in first thing in the morning is a recognized drawback. My husband's doctor, a neurologist/PD specialist as well as a pharmacologist, suggested half a regular Sinemet along with the first CR of the day to "jump-start" it. I'd also echo the advice that you look for a PD specialist or movement disorder specialist. Most regular neurologists are as ignorant as a GP when it comes to PD symptoms and treatments.
