Mary -

If the CR isn't working any better for you than the regular Sinemet, and it
costs $120 more a month, to boot, then maybe your accountant would be the
best person to ask for advice, not your doctor. <grin> Seriously, the only
potential benefit in taking CR is to smooth out the "down" times between
doses. You'd have as much benefit from sticking to regular Sinemet and
taking half-doses twice as often.

The lengthy time before CR kicks in first thing in the morning is a
recognized drawback. My husband's doctor, a neurologist/PD specialist as
well as a pharmacologist, suggested half a regular Sinemet along with the
first CR of the day to "jump-start" it.

I'd also echo the advice that you look for a PD specialist or movement
disorder specialist. Most regular neurologists are as ignorant as a GP when
it comes to PD symptoms and treatments. (My opinion only - apologies to
anyone that might offend).
