Hi Carol and interested others: I wrote in response to Carol's post some info on external condom catheters and aol kicked me off before I could finish so if it shows up elsewhere then it'll be on twice. I didn't hit the send tho so quess it's just lost. Yes they can be purchased at a medical supply store ( Home Health if you're receiving it will furnish them) (may have to have an order tho but easy to get by your Home Health nurse). Supplies Mel uses: -condom catheter (Rochester Self-Adhering Male External Catheter) -Tubing and Drainage bag (KENDALL )---holds 2000ml of urine --Just unroll the condom onto the penis (now maybe Ken or Dennis or some of the funny people could give me a different name than the Medican word :-) --Then connect the short extension to the tubing and drainage bag. Be sure to clamp the bottom or just to be sure to spare the carpet, put the bag in a small trash can. Now - a big help for going out is - instead of connecting the long tubing and drainage bag, connect a shorter tubing (we use Bard' latex Extension Tube) to a LEG BAG that is strapped on below the knee. You can ambulate to the movies-out to eat-etc. Go in the restroom anywhere and open the clamp at the bottom to drain it and it's good for all day. We have to cut about 4 inches off the extension tube as it is 18 inches long. ---Wish I could wear one during a long movie-ha [log in to unmask]
